Claude Motion turns your content into short animations, like an explainer for an all-hands, an animated chart for a board deck, or a product walkthrough for customer onboarding. This guide covers creating an animation, editing it, and exporting or sharing it.
Claude Motion is available in beta on Team and Enterprise plans. It's on by default on Team plans. On Enterprise plans, it's off by default until an owner turns it on in Organization settings > Artifacts.
How Claude Motion works
An animation is an artifact made from the Motion template. Claude builds it from your prompt as code that animates the text, charts, shapes, and images in it, and it plays like a short video.
Claude Motion doesn't use a video generation model, so it doesn't create realistic footage or people. Because each animation is code, you can change one detail, like a word, a number, or the timing, and the rest stays as it was.
Every animation you create is saved in the Artifacts tab. Learn more about artifacts and how to use them.
Create an animation
From a chat
Ask Claude for an animation in any chat. For example:
"Turn this quarterly report into a 30-second explainer for our all-hands."
"Animate how our pricing plans compare, for the sales kickoff."
"Make a short walkthrough of the setup steps for new customers."
You can also select "Output" in the message box and choose "Motion."
From the Artifacts tab
Go to the Artifacts tab.
Select a Motion template.
Describe the animation you want.
Tips for better results
Say who will watch it, where it will play, and roughly how long it should be. Attach the report, data, or images you want Claude to use, so the animation is built from your own content.
Edit your animation
Ask Claude: Ask for changes in the chat, like "Slow down the second scene" or "Change the Q3 number to 18%."
Edit directly: Adjust the animation yourself in the editor.
Export and share
To download an animation, click "Export" and choose MP4. Animations start private to you. To share one, open it and click "Share." Learn more about sharing artifacts.
Usage
Claude Motion counts toward your plan's usage limits, like the rest of your work with Claude. Longer or more complex animations use more of your limit than a typical message. Learn more about how usage and length limits work.
Turn on Claude Motion for your organization
This section is for Owners and Primary Owners on Team and Enterprise plans.
Owners turn Claude Motion on or off in Organization settings > Artifacts. It's on by default on Team plans and off by default on Enterprise plans. On Enterprise plans, owners can also limit it to specific groups with custom roles. Learn more in the Artifacts admin guide for Team and Enterprise plans.
