On October 29, 2026, we’re removing Claude Haiku 4.5 from the model selector in chat, Claude Cowork, and Claude Design on the Free, Pro, and Max plans, including in Claude Desktop and Claude Mobile. Claude Haiku 5.5 replaces it. This article explains what’s changing, where Haiku 4.5 stays available, and what happens to your existing chats.
What’s changing and when
We announced this change on October 15, 2026. Until October 29, 2026, you can still select Haiku 4.5 under “More models” in the model selector.
Starting October 29, Haiku 4.5 no longer appears in the model selector. If it’s your selected model, Claude switches you to Haiku 5.5.

Team and Enterprise plans
Claude Platform (API)
What happens to your existing chats
Your Haiku 4.5 chats stay in your account, and nothing is deleted. When you continue one after October 29, Claude responds using Haiku 5.5. You can switch to a different model at any time.
To keep a copy of your chats, you can export your data at any time. Learn more about exporting your Claude data.
Switch models in a chat
You can change the model at any point in a chat. The change applies starting with Claude’s next response.
Click the model name next to the send button.
Choose a model, or click “More models” to see additional options.
