This article explains the invoices you'll receive for a Pro or Max plan, where to find them, and how to read the charges on them.
This article covers Pro and Max plans purchased on the web. If you subscribed through Claude for iOS or Claude for Android, Anthropic doesn't issue your invoices. The Apple App Store or Google Play bills you directly, and your receipts are available in your app store account.
Types of invoices you may receive
Subscription invoices. You'll receive an invoice each time your plan renews: every month on a monthly plan, or once a year on an annual plan. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.
Plan change invoices. If you upgrade your plan in the middle of a billing cycle, you'll reset your billing cycle and receive an immediate invoice for the change rather than waiting for your next renewal. For example, upgrading from Pro to Max charges you one full month of Max, less the unused value in your current billing cycle on your old plan.

Usage credit receipts. If you've enabled usage credits, each purchase of funds is charged separately from your subscription and has its own receipt. This includes purchases made automatically by auto-reload and any usage bundles you buy.

Find your invoices
After each charge, we automatically email the invoice to your billing email address. To find a past invoice in your inbox, search for the subject line "Your receipt from Anthropic."
You can also open any invoice from your account:
Go to Settings > Billing.
Find the Invoices section.
Click "View" next to the invoice you want to open.
Read your invoice
Prorated charges. When you upgrade in the middle of a billing cycle, you are charged for one full billing cycle of the new plan, less a prorated amount for value remaining in your old plan. Your next renewal invoice charges the full price.
Credits. For some mid-cycle plan changes, the cost of one cycle of the new plan is less than the remaining value of the current cycle of the old plan. In this case, any excess value from your old plan will be stored as a credit on your account, and will be used automatically to pay towards future invoices.
Tax. Tax is calculated from your billing address, which is taken from your payment method’s address. Learn more about your billing address and tax calculation.
Applied balance. An "Applied balance" line means a credit already on your account was used to pay part or all of the invoice. It's not a new charge and not a discount on that invoice.
Amount due. The invoice total minus any applied balance. This is what your payment method was charged.
Billing details on your invoice
The name and address on an invoice come from your payment method at the time the invoice was issued. To show a different name, such as a company name, check "Use a different name on invoices" when you add or update your payment method in Settings > Billing.
You can also add a tax or VAT ID. Learn more about adding a tax or VAT ID to your paid Claude account.
For help updating your payment method or other billing details, see Paid plan billing FAQs.
Changes to your billing details apply to future invoices only. Once an invoice has been issued, we can't edit or reissue it.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't my invoice match my plan price?
The most common reasons are a plan change in the middle of a billing cycle, which is charged at a prorated amount, or a credit or applied balance that reduced the amount due. Both are shown as their own lines on the invoice.
Why did I get two receipts in the same month?
If you use usage credits, those purchases are billed separately from your subscription. One receipt is for your plan and the other is for the usage credits you added, whether you added them yourself or auto-reload did.
Can you correct the details on an invoice I already received?
No. Issued invoices can't be changed. Update your billing details in Settings > Billing and the changes will appear on your next invoice.
Can I be invoiced in a different currency?
Some subscribers pay their subscriptions using a different currency than the currency (or currencies) new subscribers would be offered in their region. To change your subscription currency, you must first mark your plan to cancel at the end of the current term, and wait for the end of term. Then when you re-purchase a new Pro or Max plan, you will use the same currency (or currency options) as new subscribers would in your region.
